The Bristol Buckingham was designed as a fast medium bomber to replace the Blenheim but was overtaken by events — by the time it reached production in 1944, the RAF’s bombing requirements had moved on and the Buckingham was converted to the courier transport role as the C.Mk.I, serving with Transport Command on high-speed communications routes across Europe. Its four-crew layout, Bristol Centaurus engines, and clean monoplane lines made it a capable if brief-lived transport in the final year of the war and immediate post-war period. Valom’s 1/72 kit captures the Buckingham in its transport configuration — an obscure but fascinating subject for collectors of British aircraft.
